The Division of Gastroenterology at the Severance Hospital of Yonsei University is run by joining advanced medical science with the best professionalism in Korea. As for a clinic, our division has been evaluated as the best division of gastroenterology from the comparative evaluation for the respective clinical subjects in Korea. As for the clinic of treating gastrointestinal diseases, we have been recognized internally and externally as to be the best clinic in Korea. The recently established severance hospital, having established a gastroenterology center within the hospital, tries its best to provide appropriate medical services to patients while systematically cooperating with the departments of internal medicine, surgery, radiation and clinical pathology under a common objective of treating gastrointestinal and liver diseases. At the same time, we make consistent efforts for researches and education. Especially by using the unique techniques and advanced instruments in the field of endoscopic treatment, we are carrying out the endoscopic treatments that substitute surgical operations in various fields as for the endoscopic treatment of polyps and early gastric cancer, endoscopic stent implantation for the malignant stricture of stomach and esophagus, endoscopic therapy of malignant pancreatobiliary diseases, endoscopic treatment of biliary stones and stricture, and endoscopic treatment of gastrointestinal bleeding. Also by operating a hepatocirrhosis clinic center, we take the lead in diagnosing hepatocellular carcinoma and developing latest medical treatment techniques.
